Purchased the Oball Shaker a few weeks ago and our 3 month old daughter plays with it almost daily. Today she vomited and had a green chunk. Upon closer inspection it was determined it came from the Oball Shaker. This product states it’s a teether but it could not withstand a 3 month old baby with no teeth. Basically her gums are strong enough to damage and crack the rubber.

Completely cracked and broke. You can see the break and the additional cracks. This happened with a 3mth old who barely knew how to hold it.

After reviewing all of the positive reviews and reading about how easy it is for babies to hold, I bought this for our 2 month old at 6 weeks to begin working on her gross and fine motor strength and her cognitive skills. She was having a difficult time gripping objects and this rattle absolutely held up to the hype about it being easy to hold! She didn’t express a real interest in using it until 9 weeks old but she will bring it to her mouth and grasp it with both hands now (10 weeks)Pros: happy with the price, the size, it is lightweight and easy to move around, nice looking designCon: not a very loud rattle. You need to shake vigorously in order to get any sound. This may not be stimulating enough for some babies and the motion needed may prove startling to some.My advice: practice showing your baby this rattle each day for a couple of minutes and help them by gently placing it in an open palm, once they have a little grip on it, move the rattle gently to show them they can create the noise. This may take a little while but keep at it! They will get there eventually! If your baby is more of a sensory seeker, this rattle might not cut it sound-wise.

My 4 month old daughter loves these. But the yellow one has a sharp edge (the elephant design on the plastic end – the bubbles look warped and bent) this caused her to cut her mouth on the toy. This is a baby toy, obviously going to end up in the mouth, sharp edges should be a quality control catch in manufacturing. Because of the bleeding mouth cut this caused my daughter, 1 star.

Some people complain it has a pathetic rattle. Well let me tell you, the rattle is actually perfect. Its the perfect sound for any baby! Its not really loud, but that’s the point! It wont startle your baby who is learning to play and grab but it makes an enticing sound that is pleasant for both baby and parent. I don’t know about your baby but mine doesn’t need a marching band to get excited or interested. I mean, do you really think Fischer Price would put out the same toy for so long that babies didn’t love? My son instantly grabbed this, it was the first toy that got him to hold something with success and he was so excited to shake it! He chews on the soft end and hits the rattle end on things to make even more noise! They never get old for him either. Honestly I was skeptical because they were so simple and people left negative reviews but I highly recommend these rattles for your baby’s first toy.

My girls adore their little rattle lol. It’s baby proofed with a soft end to prevent injury. And the other end has bals inside to make sounds like a maraca!

My three month old son is grasping the rattle easily and it is light enough that he can shake it.

We purchased this toy for our first child, almost 4 years ago now. He played with this from the early stages (when he was just learning to grasp things) to well past the crawling/walking stages. I have a small box of keepsakes, and out of about 3 toys this is one of them. We love it so much, that now expecting our second child, I am prepared to buy it again. I highly recommended it. The price is great and it has provided hours upon hours of entertainment for our firstborn, and I expect the same for this new baby. As many others have pointed out, the handles on it are the perfect size for small hands. It’s easy for them to grab hold of and keep a firm grip.
